MCLA Minutes - July 24, 2007

  1. The July 24, 2007 meeting of the MCLA Board commenced at approximately 8:10 a.m.
  2. In attendance:
    Harry Baumohl
    Ali Dansker Doyle
    Marc Baer
    Jim Motsay
    Stacey Andersen
  3. The following agenda topics were discussed:
    1. By laws with proposed revisions are to be circulated via email to entire membership and board for future vote.
    2. September Brown Bag to be held on 9/20. Stacey to circulate email requesting topics form membership.
    3. Training in October: trainers will provide a brief overview on CL in the non-domestic realm, to encourage trainees to expand the application of the process.
    4. Advertising: Stacey has explored print media rates, and will explore billboard rates. Concepts for billboard advertisement were discussed. Jim will contact various individuals about getting the artwork done for an ad. Plans to publish in the network of Patuxent newspapers.
    5. Crab feast: discuss food options and menu choices. Jim has prepared an ad for the dinner and will get it out to membership. Jim and Mike to contact judges. Board members to work on inviting members.
    6. Training roster: the Board discussed strategy for increasing numbers of participants. Each Board member will pitch the training to other attorneys located in the Baltimore area. Jim has sent the training info to City and County Bar Journals. Harry will try to connect with the Family Law Monthly and Daily Record as to publishing details on the training. Stu Webb’s book will be putout for sale at the training. Email to membership with training notice and encouragement to involve other untrained attorneys. Prices of food discussed.
    7. Ali circulated a possible new participation contract for consideration going forward.
    8. Group standards and protocols for MCLA to be discussed in depth going forward. Topics to include membership standards and how MCLA will address the interdisciplinary approach to CL. A subcommittee will be established to handle review and editing protocols and to involve the members who have not yet been involved in the administration of the MCLA.
    9. MSBA Business ADR symposium on October 30th will provide space for MCLA to present on CL. Jim, Stacey and Suzy Eckstein will agree to serve as panelists. Stacey will put together hand outs on CL for participants.
