Maryland Collaborative Law Association

MCLA Minutes - September 26, 2006

Present were Michael F., Harry, Ali, Susan, Meg Oliver, and Marc.

Ali reported that 21 people have signed up for the November training. The preferred number of attendees is 35 with a maximum of 39. The Board felt that we should shoot for a maximum number of attendees.

Next followed a discussion regarding the post-training cocktail reception. The reception will be held from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45p.m. Ali reported that Chief Judge Bell and Judge Battaglia would be attending the reception. Michael suggested that we invite other members of the judiciary. Susan and Ali will have the invitations ready at our next meeting to send out to the selected members of the judiciary.

There was further discussion regarding inviting other practicing groups to the cocktail reception. It was decided by the Board that an open invitation would be sent to all of persons interested in collaborative law. MCLA members would be able to attend a cocktail reception for free and non-members would pay $20.00.

It was proposed that during the second day of the training, MCLA would present an ethics discussion and the power point presentations.

Ali announced that she had made arrangements to have the training material reproduced. Included with the materials will be a MCLA application, training roster, MCLA roster and participation agreement.

Susan reported that at the October dinner meeting, Michael M. will present his power point presentation followed by a discussion of how to approach clients on collaborative law.

Next followed a discussion regarding a Christmas party. The Board suggested a December 6th target date. Meg Oliver and Renee will look into available locations.

A discussion next followed regarding an advanced training to be held in the late spring. Susanne and Marc will look into holding an advanced training.

The next Board meeting will be on October 3, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. at Michael's office.
